Cardio Nation : Radiation effect on Clothes

The world population is currently estimated to be around 6.92 billion, and with the technology advancement, we humans have started using mobile phones, ipods and other electronic gadgets. A report in the PC World states that cell phone subscriptions have reached 3.3 billion, which is half of the world's population. We tend to keep these dearer objects of desire mostly in our shirt pockets. The basic fact about cell phones is that they emit microwave radiations apart from radioactive radiations.

And studies have revealed that cell phones kept closer to heart is one of the reason for heart attacks and strokes in young people. Young people form a major share of cell phones and ipod users and in turn they are the major share of people who are fashion victims. This paper is an attempt to argue the need of design intervention in clothing, Shirts in particular. This paper also focuses on the need to shift shirt pocket from left side to right side. And to remind that Fashion designers are the real masters that embellish the beauty of women and smartness of men. Designers shape up bodies in the most modest manner and make anyone look stunning and sensuous. Now its time for us to shape up their health too.

Austin Women unveils yoga pants line - ässanas

Get ready to do a double take. In Austin’s thriving yoga and dance community, two women have launched ässanas, a new line of yoga pants and athletic wear that is anything but athletic-looking.

“We wanted to go beyond the basics,” said founder Leah Morelos. She and designer René Geneva came together on the idea about a year ago. “We’ve been challenged, as women who love to express our personalities through our clothes, to find a fashionable outlet when we work out.”

ässanas has launched its first season with snug-fitting boot cut and flare leg pants. Each style boasts unique elements like ruffle skirts and special prints. “I’ve found, in the athletic realm, that you either sacrifice fit or fashion,” said Leah, who owns and manages Sunstone Yoga Austin.

Next season’s designs include leggings, hot yoga shorts, and capris. “This is really season zero for us,” said René, a fourteen-year veteran of the fashion industry whose designs have made it to Mercedes Benz Fashion Week on several occasions. “We designed and produced several prototypes so that we can get feedback from our customers.”

Customers are an important part of the design process for ässanas. “Not only do we want feedback on cut, comfort and style, we want to give people the opportunity to design their own pants,” explained Leah. ässanas is launching a Kickstarter in mid July, which includes an innovative way for customers to provide design feedback for season two.

Teijin unveils anti-sweat comfort polyester fabric

Teijin Fibers will launch the new fabric for all-season sportswear targeting the fall/winter 2013 and spring/summer 2014 seasos, as well as for casual wear and uniforms.

The new polyester fabric has a three-layer structure consisting of an inner, fully hydrophobic layer of moisture-repellant polyester fibers, a middle moisture-absorption layer and an outer moisture-diffusion layer.

Once sweat has been absorbed by the middle layer, the inner hydrophobic layer keeps moisture from returning to the skin to prevent the wearer from becoming chilled, and to prevent the fabric from sticking to the skin even when perspiring heavily.

The capillary-type pump action of the three-layer structure quickly absorbs and diffuses sweat to promote fast drying.

The water-repellant fibers incorporate a repellant agent in the raw yarn, unlike surface-treated fibers, so high performance is maintained even after repeated washing.

Seamless change at UK’s chefswear retailer

With continuous growth over the last 16 years in family ownership, Nick is now taking Denny’s to a new chapter in its 170 year history. Along with the Sales Director, Dominic Green, the staff in London’s Soho and city shop’s and the Leatherhead HQ and distribution centre, they will continue the same concentration of supplying the hospitality market with well priced uniforms from stock.

Nick Jubert, Managing Director of Denny’s Uniforms for the past 16 years “liked the business so much – he bought the company”.

When the family voted to sell their shareholding, this seemed a good opportunity for Nick to buy out the family interest; having been in workwear manufacture all his life and building the Denny’s reputation for technical innovation, design and quality, Nick is confident of a seamless change.

“This exciting opportunity to streamline operations and continue our innovative designs through developing our brands Denny’s, Le Chef, AFD and Comfort Grip catering shoes feels right.

Over the years, we have built up reliable manufacturing partnerships and will continue to offer technical, leading edge design and stock on demand.  Dominic Green and I are looking forward to business as usual - with a renewed vigour.”
